DON'T GAMBLE ON A COIN FLIP USING THIS COIN, UNLESS YOU CALL HEADS.
This is the reverse. Yes, the reverse. This was brought in by Mark P. Below are the obverse and reverse next to each other.
It is a magician's coin. Two obverses fused together.
I bet it fooled a lot of people.

STATE QUARTER SHOWS SOMETHING IS WRONG
This 2002D Mississippi State Quarter, found in circulation by your webmaster in 2003, shows that something substantial, like a wire, was in the way when this coin was struck, creating this deeply incused crease.
This coin was submitted to "Coin World" and appeared in their Feb. 17, 2003 issue. There was some debate at the Coin World office whether the missing clad layer was the result of the wire or some other impurities in the planchet at the time.
Interestingly, this coin was found in change received at Meijer from a new roll the cashier just opened.
